Collection: Madonna and Child with Saint John the Baptist, Saint Peter, and Two Angels, 1290 COLLECTION

This Collection was inspired by a Tuscan 13th Century Masterpiece titled "Madonna and Child with St. John the Baptist, St. Peter, and Two Angels".  It was painted in the year 1290 and the artist is unknown. The original is at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. where it is presently on view.

The original is less than 10 inches across, suggesting that it was originally made for private devotions.  Daisies are shown; they symbolize the blessed souls in heaven, and Christ's Incarnation.  The artist used a shorthand technique.  The Virgin's eyes convey wistfulness as she considers the future of her son.  Saint John the Baptist and Saint Peter are watching, and two angels above are guarding.

This Medieval art captured my heart with its raw beauty.  This "Madonna and Child with Saint John the Baptist, Saint Peter, and Two Angels, 1290 Collection" that I was inspired to create will hopefully bring a moment of pause to those who see it; in this, our hurried world.  And by giving new life to this ancient masterpiece, it is my intention that all who see it will be inspired by its  sacred beauty.
