Collection: Saint George and the Dragon, Raphael, 1506 COLLECTION

This magnificent Masterpiece was painted in the year 1506 by the very famous Raphael.  The original is presently on view at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.

This work of art was part of a series of miniature panels that Raphael painted for the Court of Urnino.  This panel measures only 11 1/4" X 8 7/16".

This painting portrays Saint George, who was a Roman Soldier of Christian faith, saving the daughter of a pagan king by subduing a dragon with his lance.  The princess subsequently led the dragon to the city, where Saint George killed it with his sword, prompting the king and his subjects to convert to Christianity.

"This work of art is sure to bring a moment of reflection and awe, as one contemplates the incredible story that the painting reveals."
